The 44 (and 60) is a 2 pinion design. Eaton does not think they are sufficiently strong. That doesn't mean, however that some resellers will tell you that.

09-11-13 06:45 AM - Post# 2381022 I recently picked up a 1969 c20 with a eaton h052 rear diff. and when I took he hubs off the rears to check the brakes I found someone left the tanged washer out between the outer wheel bearing and the bearing nut on the drivers side. the locking washers are ok. and the truck was driven many miles as it was, but I can't find a source.
